lower left back hip pain bad level 8.   i think its my disc crunching down on my nerve.  I can exact the point of intense pain but it radiates every where around the hip and front of thigh is burning and foot is buzzing.  Off to chiro at 1040am.

The Visit:   Quote:  "Uhhhh   your hip is out a mile".   Nice of him to put it in runners' terms : D.  Also he told me the  reason why new shoes put me in distress is that I keep making "them" conform to "me".  When my shoes are probably right but my foot, hip .... etc...is not.  That's why the old shoes feel just right as I "pounded" them into submission : D.  I am not a conformist apparently.   He adjusted me from head to toe focusing on my hip, foot and tibia. Apparently my tibia also is displaced inward.   He wants me to keep running.  He'll call me later and see how things are going.  I need to see him again next week.  He charges only $15.00 and is quite thorough, has a nice office on main st. in Lehi.  And also to do the piriformis stretch on that leg (lay on your back leg crossed over knee, pull knee in to really stretch it), which BTW hurts like no other.  Pain level went to a 5 to 6 but is currently back at an 8.  Got my prescription for relaxant just now and took 1/2 a tab.  I don't want to be knocked out all day.  Will ice and take ibuprofen as well.

Hope you get that hip into submission soon! Well, enjoy the rest while you can!

April, just a moment ago a neighbor stopped me out of Little Caesars Pizza and asked for some running advice and she would like to talk running with me later....suddenly I felt sad,,,,this pain is ridiculous!! It is continuously at a 7 to 8. What to do? I sure hope its not a stress fracture. My whole hip is in agony!!! I don't know how he expects me to keep running...maybe if the endorphins kick in I won't care...as usual.

Yeah, my ART guy adjusts my hip and pulls on it quite a bit every visit, but you should probably get some muscle/tendon work done on it too. Surely somewhere there is a tight muscle that is tugging the hip out of place. Call Josse (she does Graston scraping, right?) or if you know of anyone who does ART (Active Release Technique), I highly suggest that too.

Chiropractors are good but I would hit it at all angles (massage therapist, ART, maybe even acupuncture?)

Julie have you ever taken neurontin? I wondered since so much of your pain seems nerve-related. I used to take it years ago when I had a pinched nerve in my thigh that burned so much I couldn't sleep. The only problem with it was that it made me almost narcoleptic--I didn't feel sleepy but if I dared sit down for more than a minute I fell asleep! It did, however, work wonders for the pain and after a while I didn't have to take it anymore.

Thanks Nan. I think I will write Josse, my groin/hamstring is quite affected as well. The whole hip is very ANGRY. I definitely to "scrape" something out of it.

April-- neurontin works well took it a few year ago but I too felt like a MAJOR zombie on it and had memory problems as well. Soooo I can't go that route unless I sit at home with nothing to do,,,, yah right : D
