Changed our Hobble Creek race date to this morning at 550am from Saturday as we chatted about the logistics last night on the phone (Melanie and I). Since I had two soccer games and she has 5 kids and a husband leaving on a camping trip we decided it would be best. Avoiding the parading buses up the route was also an incentive. The weather was cool but I started in shorts and shortsleeved shirt. No problem. We put water at mile 4 and mile 10. Therefore we were lacking on hydration and could have done better if it truly was a race. We ran it in 1:34:10. Melanie 20 seconds faster. We ran the FULL course, thru the ridiculous trail that takes away your speed for a moment. We were at the halfway point (6.55miles) at 46:01 (7:00 pace). Wow haven't run that fast in over 7 years. The second half was 2 minutes slower. Oh well. Our last 5K was 22:43. I assume the course ends around that building in the park again for 13.1 cause that is what we did. We are glad to be done. Good luck to all you golden ticket holders!!!!!

Wow. Great job Julie. I will be running the race tomorrow. I will be thrilled if I finish anywhere near your time.

I was actually thinking about your blog today when I was running the race. I bet that you could have run faster just being part of the race. But, it would have been so nice to not have the crowded start. So I am very impressed with how great you ran. That would be great if you could run St. George with us. I know of about 5 of us that are hoping for 3:30. We are thinking about running the Spanish Fork 1/2 in 2 weeks. Have you ever ran that one?

Julie- I have never run the SF Half but plan to this year to keep up the tempo running. It is not downhill (well half maybe) as it is an out and back course. It will be a good run to push ourselves on a more flat course. I am also running with the Sojourners Running Club (haven't ran with them in over 8 or 9 years) this Saturday for 21 miles in the back country of Provo to Hobble Creek Canyon. I have never run this one either but hear it really gets you ready for St. George. Allows you to train at the right pace and not push it like you need to in long runs. Hope to see you at SF Half.
