No rabbit today, No hat today for that matter. Knew this was going to hurt so just tried to keep it a tempo/marathon pace run. Ouch. Rubbed this unsented Myomed all over my hamstrings, lower back and calves, ran a two plus mile warm-up and could feel the strain on my back. But just tried my best. Could not make it in the 6s but once. Even after the first uphill mile and we headed slightly downhill my effort for lifting my legs did not show on the clock so I mentally gave up to my physical ails. Oh and I ran this race minus my iPod. I think it definitely would have improved my pain focus and perhaps my pace in seconds so the consensus for me, if in pain I would rather have something to distract me and not the other guys huffing and puffing beside me trying to not get chicked by me. That was hard. The breathing patterns were intense but hey if felt more real, like I was REALLY there. Sadly, I think this course is easier than the Freedom Run 10K two and 1/2 weeks ago and I was 3 seconds slower!! I guess back pain minus iPod is worse than sore throat pain and iPod. Oh I guess I did just run the Bryce 1/2 and ran two 10 milers the last two days. I guess that might have something to do with my inability to perform well today. Or even feel well at all in this run. Glad I got some tempo miles : ) Not looking forward to staying up all night tonight and Saturday. No rest for the weary. Here are my miles: pretty consistent even with the first big uphill: 7:09, 6:54, 7:06, 7:02, 7:15, 7:06 Last .2 in 81 seconds. Cooldown with 2.4 miles (ran to mile 5 and back to finish)

Great job, especially having just run that brutal half marathon! Your legs are probably still dead from that!

I do agree on the iPod thing. I was to the freeway when I realized I had forgotten mine and I did not have time to go back. I run so much better when I have gangsta rap to distract me!

You did great, wish I would have met you!

Great job Julie I hope the pain eases up soon! I feel your pain at work hope it's not too stressful and you manage to get some quality sleep in between. Rest as much as you can!

K lady, great race. I was reading my blog and I thought you were another Julie, sorry about that. Fantastic time, you were on fire even if you didn't feel that well.

WOW!!! You are so fast!!! Nicely done today. Incredible race ... especially considering the pain. Seriously ... WOW!!!

I'm sorry you weren't feeling well today. I'm still impressed with what an amazing runner you are. That's still a great time on what sounds like a tough course. I don't know how you do it all on such little sleep.

Julie,

For some reason I could not get on your blog yesterday. It kept booting me out. Thus, here's my late CONGRATS.

I am amazed by your speed despite the pain and just having raced a fast winning 1/2 a week ago, plus working and no sleep and no taper. You are an animal!!!

I love how nicely you held your pace. Hope you know what an AWESOME talented runner you are! GREAT tempo run with an AG placement/win. VERY COOL!

Hope you're having a restful Sunday and recovering well.

Hey Julie haven't heard from you in a few days. How is your back? Been working all night I guess?

From JulieC on Mon, Jul 27, 2009 at 13:08:41 from 67.42.16.207

Hi April. Just about to log my report. Back is a BIG issue right now. It bilateral sciatica going to the hamstrings, calves and feet. My feet tingle and burn. My calves and hamstrings feel EXTREMELY tight following a line where the sciatic nerve travels. I went out for a run today after two full days off without much sleep to account for and was in zombie mode at first but felt okay on the uphill. When I got to the downhill I tried to pick up the pace and whammo the same pains from lower back to feet. I pushed it the last mile cause I am masochistic like that but am currently paying for it. Constant nerve pain and tingling. Oh and I work again tonight. I think I will get my hubby to massage me and consider forking the money over for a visit or two or three to a chiropracter. I am sure L3 thru S1 is the problem maker right now. Hopefull an alignment will put it at bay : D
