Dear Foot,

For what it's worth, I am sorry.  Won't you come back to me?   I didn't mean to use and abuse you.  I thought you were okay with it all.  Then just one day you quit on me.  I  really do not love this new foot.  I want YOU back.  9 weeks is a long time to be away.  If I promise to love you all the last running years of my life will you reconsider your abandonment?      Miss you terribly.                  Julie.

PS  Right foot says he is sorry too.  He thinks it is his fault for trying to go out of commission last fall and made you do all the work.  He promises to pull his weight.  He wanted me to pass on that he knows now what you were going through since now he is working overtime.  Just come back!!

Okay so that was what I was thinking on my measly 4 mile run this morning.  AP 7:58.  First mile 8:32.  Last mile 7:15.  Foot didn't hurt the entire first mile.  Then got progressively tighter.  Wondering if I will ever be fast again since my aerobic base is plummeting and I can't push off on my foot in a fast fashion.

Then, 1 mile leisurely bike ride to my kids school.  I put it in a hard gear and moved my legs slowly so I could be patient and wait for my two girls.   7:25 mile, mostly uphill.

Followed by a 14.2 mile bike ride up into Cedar Hills.  Boy some of the climbs were intense.  I started with climbing which was difficult.  I was pooped before I started.  Eventually got my AP down on the gradual downhill from the mouth of AF canyon thru Lone Peak Park etc..  AP  4:14 for 14.2 miles.

I hope your foot likes its note and will come back!

great letter. very persuasive, especially the post script -- left foot will no doubt come around when it realizes the burdens and guilt right foot is feeling.

you are doing great, julie. i found the bike rides i did last summer really, really helped maintain (and quite possibly improve) my aerobic fitness. especially riding up hills!

Love the letter I hope your foot listens. :)

Can I just say that biking is so dang hard! Sheesh...my Mom got a new bike and I took it for a stroll Sunday and thought I might die! Biking those hills in Saratoga Springs had me panting like a freaking dog. Seriously though wow it is tough.

you got it Rachelle. I assume you were on a mountain bike?? my neighbor swears I will love a road bike because it is less work to go a lot faster. I am scared of the skinny tires and crashing going THAT fast. But for my tri in August I am going to borrow a road bike or just see how well I can do with my mountain bike. I am sure I will still pass several people with my 3:15 miles I can put out on mine on flat aways. :D. can you believe this weather? you are a REAL runner if you ran outside in it today ; D
