From allie on Thu, Apr 29, 2010 at 14:41:40 from 129.123.243.83

hope you are okay. the dreaded hip injury is highly, HIGHLY contagious on this blog.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Get some treatment on that hip. The ancient healing remedy of sleep helps too. Sleep is not a luxury, its a necessity.

Let me know if there is something I can do to help.

From JulieC on Thu, Apr 29, 2010 at 17:22:09 from 71.219.45.70

Pain scale 8.5 (10 labor). Left disc? It radiates all the way to my foot but mostly my ENTIRE hip and inner hamstring. It was spasming last night after Troy massaged it. So much so that I tried not to scream out. Ran out of my muscle relaxant Soma a few weeks ago that I take in an emergency. Called the Dr. to get some. Have to wait til he orders it. I was totally fine after my downhill 17 miler (two Thurs. ago) than I ran in my new shoes right after then my daughter wanted to play tag and as I chased her I could feel my hamstring pull. This was two days after the 17 miler and two nights of working. I ran in those shoes a few more days then when I ran on Saturday in my sleep, literally, it was very tight the whole time. But I had switched back to the oldies but goodies that day and my 23 miler. After the 23 miler no soreness but yesterday I decided to do SW on the TM with the new shoes. Big Mistake as I could feel the hamstring tighten up with each repeat but I am such a loser I kept going. Then ALL day yesterday it got worse and worse. I slept well with a little help of 1/4 xanax. It helped the spasm. Now its waxing and waning in depths of pain. Sometimes at least in the past few hours it has improved but if I move wrong its excruciating. It follows the sciatic nerve...piriformis syndrome? Sorry long post, but Hey at least I am not out running : D

Josse, do you have a good knife? I'd like to cut it out, the nerve that is. No really, I am not sure what to do besides ice and rest and massage. Perhaps a hip adjustment? Ibuprofen works slightly. I am sure the rest will help and this too shall pass. It can't be long term, it just CANNOT BE!!!! IN fact I have been thinking for days now of MPing the Provo Half so this is very bad timing. I am taking tomorrow off too and will see about that. Any other suggestions?

Oh JUlie!!! No!!! Take care of that hip,,,,I'm thinking about not blogging anymore cuz the hip thing is sounding way contagious, , , achoo! jk, I am SO sorry to hear this, , , sending healing thoughts your way. At least you got in a great long run + speed work in at perfect peak timing, so if you have to take the time off before Ogden you are well-trained. Good Luck w/ your remedies and rest!!!!! Stay positive, injuries can be just as much a mental game. (for me anyway) Remember what a strong and fast runner you ARE!!!

From josse on Thu, Apr 29, 2010 at 19:00:14 from 75.231.35.224

I think an adjustment would help a lot. The rest of the stuff you said should help. If it keeps up I can try scraping it.
