Been up since 5 am and haven't run (it is now almost 8am!!).  Should have stepped out the door then as when I decided to look at the weather I came to the realization of how cold it was and that from 7 - 9am was a predicted snow storm.  YUP right on time-- 7am and the high winds picked up even more and the snow began flying horizontally.  I WANT TO KNOW did you run in this???????  i thought about it many times just so  I looked tough but you know what I bowed out to protect myself from decreasing my immunity as it is still flu and cold season and running in this will only increase my chances at work of picking something up!!  But now to be enclosed on a TM where more germs harbor ; D.   Running out of time....if it were clearing later minus the wind  I would just run then.  Foot not healed in case you are wondering. But Andrea's advice to look at the link to "trigger points" was very informative.  There is a spot on my calf that is the trigger point to the plantar fascia. I didn't think my calves were tight, rather spongy.  But when I pushed deep on the "trigger point" I came unglued.  It is not on my right calf so  I am sure it is legit.  My right foot feels great.  My left foot is beyond reasoning.  I am getting used to (numb) to the constant pain.   Except now I have a really sore upper/inner calf!!!!  What to do??  : D.    9:15am--- 12 long painful miles on the mill.  It didn't start out so painful but my calf got tighter and tighter which pulled on my plantar fascia which made the run miserable-- 12 miles-- 4 @ 8:27 (it was hard running that slow), 4 @ 8:13, 3 @ 8:00 all at  1 % incline except the last mile of each set (2%).  Last mile I just could not take it mentally any longer and figure I was doing more harm than good so I slowed it way down to 8:27 to 8:57.  No 16 miler for me.  I am not even going to run for 10 days. How's that for taking it easy????

It was a tad bit nasty out there this morning. But I figured it was like this 2-3 days every WEEK last year, so I could make due.

I hope the trigger point thing helps you out - Andrea has made some massive jumps in the last couple weeks once she figured that out.

Jake I was hoping to run in the daylight that is why I delayed...I had no idea this storm was coming about...until 6am when I looked on line at the weather for the Boston area then thought hey, what's it going to be like here???? Of course it is my one day off this week. Oh and I told my daughter, "you like the weather? I don't know why I am surprised last year it snowed like this the last week of April". I should be thankful it is not last year!! btw for Boston---rain before race weekend but then the rain ends on Saturday....can't see further ahead--- but I was liking the ever so occasion W-SW wind. But mostly I saw winds from the North. Not good. Too early yet to tell but not too late put out the petition for good weather!!! Praying and more praying. : D.

I've looked at the long term weather twice (just for fun) and one time it said 70 degrees on race day, and the other time it said possible snow :-)

I'll look again before I pack my clothes next Friday.

I honestly did not think today's storm would actually materialize. I guess we're always due for a couple of these days in April/May, though

I think it will clear up for you and you will be able to run this afternoon Julie. They say the storm should be completely cleared by noon today.

And yikes the last thing I need is to be obsessively tracking Boston weather. The weather there seems to be almost as bipolar as the weather in UT. :)

Rachelle, my run was painful...I couldn't get in the 16 I wanted on the mill, nevermind outside. I stopped at 12 and the pace was easy. My calf and entire foot were not cooperating. Went to chiro and soleus muscle has a huge knot in it. It is painful even after ultrasound. It is the trigger point for the plantar fascia and it was alive and ticking when I touched it last night--- I woke a sleeping GIANT to say the least. I am not running until Monday of the marathon.

Neither did Nan last year. Check out her blog leading up to Boston and you will see that she mostly pool ran and did the elliptical leading up to the race. Sorry about your injury!

Joan Benoit 1984 - surgery 17 days before the Olympic Trials, just did pool running, went out and won the thing! :-)

Thanks Jake and Melody-- I needed that. I "locked" myself up in my boot I have had since my bunion surgery two weeks post Boston 16 years ago. It is only pain free stabilization-- a vacation for my leg. Once the calf calms down-- hopefully by Monday-- I am going to do a spin class then another the Tuesday I leave. Then nothing-- as I am staying with family for most of our stay. I am hoping that I can just run this thing pain free. On that note-- anytime will do---preferably under 3:25. I am thinking I will run with my phone now and keep tabs on how you two and others are doing along the course : D.

Julie - Melody & Jake are right. The extra rest might be just what you need.

And I'll say this again.....if your really planning to run 3:25 just run with me and we will eat candy, high five kids along the way, and get me a blasted PR. :) Offer is always standing. :):):)

Rachelle, I am running with you :D. I have made that decision. And I am so excited to have a friend beside me!! I am thinking of taking my phone for updates :D and access to call my hubby.
