Cancelled from work.  Yay now I can go to the zoo with my extended family in the hot sun ; D.  Up at 530am.  Out by 6am.  Ran 8 miles at 7:50.  First mile 8:53.  My first miles are just slow.  Last four miles-- 7:50, 7:30, 7:17, 6:57.    AP 7:50.  1/2 mile cooldown 8:45 pace.  I am not sure about any PR at SG at this rate.  I just don't feel into it yet.  I have no base and one speedwork, oh and a nice Timp Half Pacer time.  I have yet to run a long run.  I think I am clinically depressed.

Its still 2 months away!

I'd be more worried if you felt like you had a PR in you right NOW.

Hang in there!

From JulieC on Fri, Aug 03, 2012 at 08:48:05 from 168.103.185.218

okay Jake I will try and relax--- last year I was probably OVER trained-- this year I am like UNDER trained--- but now that you have faith in me maybe it will happen. One day I am like --yah I am going to PR, the next day I am like you aren't even running what you ran last year, get real ; D. Wow-- look at that five 8 milers in a row!! I am happy about that. Tomorrow-- a "short" long run of 14-15 miles.

From Jake K on Fri, Aug 03, 2012 at 09:34:39 from 155.100.226.54

Better to be 20% undertrained than 1% overtrained going into a marathon!

Plus you've got time - get the injuries under control and put in 4-6 weeks of good running.. you'll be fine and probably surprise yourself.

From Rachelle on Fri, Aug 03, 2012 at 11:24:46 from 159.212.71.77

I have to agree with Jake on this one. In my humble opinion a too long training cycle is what creates burn out, fatigue and often leads to bad performance. SGM last year for both of us! You have the base and plenty of time left to prepare.

My family is at the zoo today. You will have to look for them. :)

Have fun at the zoo!! glad you get to go. I'll bet you'll surprise yourself at st george.

From JulieC on Fri, Aug 03, 2012 at 13:07:07 from 168.103.185.218

I opted out of the day at the zoo--- thankfully as it is nearly 100 degrees and NO shade. I just talked to my kids. They are having fun but said they were hot. I have to pick up my dog from the vet--$300 dollar teeth cleaning and three teeth extracted. Troy calmed me by taking me out to lunch. Courtney just got back from Young Women camp and we are off to the movies, the three of us.

Sorry Julie. I am clinically depressed...pretty much every day of my life :) Now, with running, coping skills and some good family support I wouldn't say I'm in the thick of it every day, but some days are bad days. If you ever want to chat about it, I'm available.

Nice job on the run, and I agree with Rachelle and Jake on the training. Get injuries under control and then keep the base and get the long runs in and you'll never know the difference!

Congrats on getting cancelled. I've never been so happy to hear my phone ring at 5:30 in the morning. Its like Christmas.

From JulieC on Fri, Aug 03, 2012 at 20:21:03 from 168.103.185.218

lately Rachel my depression is steming from getting old and not wanting to. all the aches and pains and I just want to be eternally in my 20s...I need to "grow up".
