west jordan park while girls at soccer training at park. ran around park at 3:15pm.  HOT, HUMID, wind.  3 mile warmup.    Ran 8 x 3 min at Marathon pace. Forgot watch.  Ran a loop that I guessed was one mile.  It was slightly over after I course tooled it.  Like 1.03.  Ha ha.  Ran at what I guessed was marathon pace and felt like death.  They were at about 6:49 pace after course tooling distance with time.  Walked the two minute rest.  Drove back to PG and ran the two mile cooldown on grass at amber's soccer practice with her team.  About 9 minute pace.   So not wanting to run Saturday. Think my goal will be 3:20 to 3:30.  Just to finish.

ran at 6:20 am at rec center with friends. I was put on call so was able to do our marathon prep run but didn't do the MP miles.  Ran 0.27 miles (the last of her 2 miles at mp) at 6:42 pace.  Felt A TON easier than yesterday. Guess it was the humidity and heat and time of day yesterday.  Ran the last mile in 7:20. It was down hill.  This is not marathon pace either.  I am going to die Saturday.  YIKES!!!

slept maybe four hours.  four hours of broken sleep.   leaving for st george with jane, chandi, kim and jenny at 10am.   fatigue is daunting.  getting a vitamin b12 shot this am.  three years ago it helped a ton but i think it kicked in like three days later.  no goal time for me in st george except to finish.  and even then i don't know why I do that.  i think i will head to the trails soon.  and leave road running. idk.    the roads are crowded.  trails are calling me.

Best St George Marathon for me except for when I qualified in my first marathon (St George 1995) for Boston 100th race.  But even then this felt easy.  A simple training run with no stress.  Ate right, fueled right, played it right for me.  With by over half the usual training I do for St George (one 20 miler) followed by weeks at at time at 20 miles in a week  I feel very good about coming out of this race feel awesome.  I must have run this just above lactate threshold as after the race I could walk and jog up and down stairs to our condo without muscle fatigue and today (Sunday) walking normal down stairs with just a little stiffness.  Seriously LITTLE.  Anyway, two salt tabs before the race and a mineral tab.  Never have taken these in a race. Kim gave them to me the night before.  STep back....drove down to sg with Kim, Chandi, Jane and Jenny (in Jenny's cozy car).  Got in sg about 2pm. Went to expo for an hour then to costco to shop and buy pizza to go with our spaghetti and special sauce Jane made and a salad kit from costco. Slept from 930-1230 well.  Woke to potty.  Back to sleep til 430am.  To busses at 455am---well drove to busses then.  Up at start at  545am.  One hour before race.  Nice and cool up there. No nerves.  Because I knew I could run whatever I wanted and it DID NOT MATTER to me.  I was so glad to know that and feel that.  I had no plans except if some magic happened and training that I didn't do led to a weirdly speedy performance  I would take that but I knew deep down I didn't train for that and I had no energy all summer to train for that.  I have been busy with lots of things emotionally. It wasn't in my cards this year.  Shingles, braces and cancer (my mom) took their toll.  Obviously the cancer was the worst of it all.  Just a fight I didn't think I had to fight for my mom.  Anyway..with garmin in average pace mode the gun went off (Kim wanted to keep me in the elite corral....grrr she would not let me go back where I knew I belonged..They did a staggered start so it was hilarious when I was jogging in the elite corral and the next group "chased" me down and the next group after that.  Ha ha . However I am pretty sure I passed several hundred back by the finish.  Last note before I write paces--- I feel awesome.  Heart never taxed.  Stingers (honey type gu made by stinger) taken at 2 miles, 9miles, 16 miles and 23 miles.  Salt tabs (2) at half after two at start with a mineral tab as well at start. Then I alternatively took water and gatorade at water stations.  Threw a lot of water over my head not that I was hot but to wake me up since I DON"T take A SINGLE mg of CAFFEINE.  YUP NONE!!  1:41:04 first half. 1:37:xx second half.
