Met Jane and Kim at Gold's.  Chandi was there with Delightra.  I was off by myself five tms down.  Told to do 2 mile warmup.  Did this at 1%, 8:30ap.  Started at 8:41.  Jumped off to stretch then did the plan Jane came over to tell me to do.  5-6 x 1200s at whatever pace.  Ha Ha. With recovery to equal a mile.  So 0.25 miles of recovery. Except I started my TM and ran 0.25 miles at warmup pace (well a little faster 8:00) and went right into SW.   I figured since I ran my 800s at 9.5 to 9.7 mph that going faster than that was not wise. So I went slower.  I did 5 x 1200 at 9.4 mph (6:22), 0 % incline, and recovery at 1%, 7.1 mph for four of them and 7.0 for two of them (8:27, 8:34).  Ran last one next to Jane who was finishing up her sixth with Kim (yup they do theirs much faster 10.0 to 10.1).  And their recoveries are at 7:00 pace!!!!!  seriously??????  They keep incline at 0 %.  Still!!!!!!  My last one was at 6:15 ap (9.6mph).  Felt strong and not worn out at all : D.  Ran two recovery miles at 7:30 pace which felt easy after speedwork.  1% incline.  10 miles total.    25 pushups cause Kim was doing them.  NOT IN A ROW.  I am just starting out.  5 x 5 good form pushups.  I am so wimpy!!  Plus gotta baby the heel. 73.5 minutes for 10 miles.

Jen texted me last night so changed plans from another gym day to meeting her at foot of lake mountaon trail. Had never been and she said it was all snow pack so dug out my trail shoes that i remember hating. Nikes would not last...icing in spots and no traction on flyknit lunars. Although i was still slipping i had btr tractiin in the trail shoes but they are super heavy ..over a pound each and they have metal plates built in so they did not give at all. My left arch was aching. Got a massage of foot by a guy named jeff who was with us. That helped but when we reached the top the metal in the shoes must have froze cause abosolutely like running barefoot on ice blocks i had no ankle control when we entered a very small passage through cruncy snow. It wasnt worth the injury . At least i made it to the top. 4000 feet vert gain in four miles is what jen told me. Wowza. Took 1:04 to the top and that is with walking at the top and 37 on the way down. I thought i was going to crash on the way down. Slippery snow pack and very steep. Lots of leaning back saw kelli and rachel on way back down. I had locked my keys in my car and rachel let me use her phone. A miracle her service worked troy had to drive 14 miles to come unlock my car so nice of him. He was there within minutes of me reaching the car.

To in laws. Watched a very stupid movie...world war z. Cheered on new year. Bed at 0100. Startled awake on own at 520am. Did i even sleep? Didnt feel like it but did not feel tired at work...12.5 hours. Took care of first baby of new year at afh :-) fun day. Left leg/sciatic muscle tightness pretty intense...most likely from massive descent off mountain. Feet dont even hurt. No run. Happy New Year 2014! I am only on one quest in running....subthree. boston is more of a fun run . If body holds up will try for pr there. I am feeling btr but not like i used to when i should have run subthree on 2011...with mt nebo half in 1:19 and lots of miles and tough wprkouts. Going thru menpause not easy on a body. But now that i am here i hope to balance out. No more guessing what is wrong with me. Now is the time to get back and believe in myself. I am over weight for a runnner so i need a stricter healthier diet and some cross training. The gym is my means to a stronger julie. I have one more shot and i am going for it...so hoping that no disasters hallen like last two years...i just didnt realize that i was in true menopause and how the absolute zero in hormones can change a person. But i am on the up and up. I am thinking i am on the mend. I am due for improvement.

Surprised to see my good friend melanie at the gym....yay she joined too. What a fun running year this will be. :-) had no idea what to run today...thought mostly about easy jog due to lots of tightness in upper left thigh from "skiing" down lake mountain with metal shoes tuesday. But mel was so energized i felt stronger than recovery. Got on tm beside her and kept tm at 1% except the fastest mile i put at 0. Here are my increments every half mile....8:34, 8:19, 8:06, 7:53, 7:41, 730, 7:18, 7:07, 6:58, 6:48, 6:39, 6:31, 6:22, 6:15, 7:24, 7:18, 7:07, 6:58, 6:48, 6:39, then cooldown , halfmile varying speeds from 7:03 to 7:30. Ap 7:16 72:42 for 10 miles. Fun mix up run. Strength training done.

Wowza LOOK at that---over 600 miles on my RED nike flyknits without any black rubber on the outer heels since 400 miles.  I just can't afford to keep buying new shoes.  So I am making my shoes last.  I am on a quest to find the perfect shoe.  Flyknits are close but the 9.5 I got are too tight on my heel. The 10s were good (RED).  I liked the grey mix color and they only had 9.5.  I usually wear a 9.5 and the reds seemed big so I thought I could get by.  NOPE.  Anyway....today was recovery JOG day.  AND I am happy to report that I stuck to a TRUE recovery pace for 10 miles.  I ran 8:57 x 2 miles, 8:49 x 2 miles, 8:41 x 2 miles, 8:34 x 2 miles and 8:27 x 2 miles.  AP 8:42.  Ran 1 % of each 2 mile block for 1.5 miles and 3% incline for 0.5 miles of each 2 mile block.  Make sense??  Back was sore from strength training as well as inner thighs from lunges.  I can't tell if this is normal muscle/nerve pains or part of fibromyalgia ( the pain is the same, hence why I dont like to induce more pain).  I am gonna assume it is from exercise and just maybe I can trick my body.    Stretched and then headed to last part of YOGA class.  It was cooldown stretching and was perfect for me.  I am going to start going two times a week.  I need this.  So happy to have a gym close by and lots of friends to see daily.  : D.

Met the already at 7.5 miles women at golds. I am so slow getting up these days. Had no plan. Since they were all doing 14 i thought i would at least do 12. Was fun to have everyone by me for the first 6.5 miles. Lonely thereafter. Felt much easier with everyone next to me. Kind of mental knowing they were done and in the sauna. I ran 1% incline with 4@ 7:41 pace, 4@7:35, 2@7:30 pace and last two at 0 percent, 6:55ap and 6:46 ap. Ap for 12 - 7:29. 0.37 walk /jog. First run longer than 10.5 miles since Thankful 13 half on Thanksgiving day. And First 50 mile week since two weeks before sgm. Wow. I have really cut back for myself. Not at all ready to pour it on in miles. Just gonna stick to my girlfriends for coaching at the gym. They run less than 40 MILES A WEEK and still run 2:57 marathons. They tel me i run too much. Ha ha. So gonna go the relaxed approach on this old body.
