Ran the AF Half  in reverse AGAIN starting from my house (it takes exactly two miles).  Plan to run 12 today (not much time since I had a class for work at 9am and I awoke at 6::45am) so ran to six miles (4 miles UP the course) then turned around.  At first I was figuring how SLOW can I run this today and still make it to the class on time?  But then I felt fine so I ran faster than I thought I would.  I ran at 7am sharp.  The HUMIDITY was again there.  I decided to NOT stop and NOT take in any water.  Well since there was NO place to stop for water (except the high school, which I wasn't tempted to step inside there at the moment) I just ran LIQUID free except ALL over me with PERSPIRATION!!   Some serious humidity going on.  Not as bad as it can get, 'cause I have been there, having grown up in New Hampshire but enough to remind me why I love DRY UTAH so much.    I figure I need some HEAT SIMULATION runs since YESTERDAYS SMOG RUN.  Seriously I think I had an exercised-air pollution-induced asthma "attack".  I could NOT get my breathing in control at all (like Lily).  Today felt a bit better since the air pollution wasn't as great and the cloud cover was less   : D.  The sun even came out for 1/2 of my run making it  better for heat simulation.  I was surprised NOT to have cotton mouth.  I didn't ever feel too parched.  I did run through two sprinklers offering a little relief to my run.  AP for 12 miles of good hills =  7:42.    My arms are a little sore from yesterday's trip to "Raging Waters" (seven peaks of SLC).  My daughter egged me on to try to go across the water using only these two rubber ropes side by side over the COLD pool.  At first I wimped out and complained and even got up and then back down two or three times.  And then I decided to say to myself " I can do this" and what do you know?  I did.  While lots of people were falling trying to do it, I made it.  MIND OVER MATTER BABY!!!  But somehow YESTERDAY I HAD NO MIND OVER MATTER--- HEAT IS JUST TOO MUCH FOR ME!! WHERE WERE THE ICE CUBES AND COLD WATER?

excellent mileage, especially after the solid run yesterday (sounds like conditions were tough).

i know about those ropes at raging waters -- it's quite a challenge. and their water is always freezing!

thanks for thinking my run was solid yesterday :D. honestly thought I was swimming in murky water those last two miles....my legs were attempting to move but just could not lift them-- JELLO.

I thought my upper body was WEAK. I had a major breakthrough in my confidence on those ropes. Funny, huh?

Wow Julie awesome pace in in the triple-H monster(heat,humidity,hills)--if you can handle that, you can handle anything!

reading your reports for the past 2 days are making me feel really guilty! I have been choosing sleep and vacation over running and its catching up to me quickly! You are amazing to me and have then energy of a teenager...your entries always make me SMILE :))) Are you doing the Hobbler?

From Carina on Wed, Jul 06, 2011 at 00:09:49 from 204.15.86.83

Wow!! You're totally killing it out there!!!

From JulieC on Wed, Jul 06, 2011 at 00:25:45 from 70.56.108.94

sleep a good thing McKenzie. I am seriously deprived of it that is why I am running crazily. The Hobbler is not to be....unless I convince Melanie to start at mile 10 and run up it to the start and run the first 10 miles of it with all the racers for "fun" (MP miles, not 1/2 pace). We are saving ourselves for Bryce. I bet you totally ROCK that course ;D!!!! I KNOW YOU!! YOU WILL!!!

Carina-- We have been spoiled long enough with the long cold spring...TIME TO GET SERIOUS and face MOTHER NATURE HEAD ON. NO MORE HEADBANDS AND GLOVES NOW IS TIME FOR SAUNA-LIKE BEADS OF SWEAT just stepping out the door. MUST ACCLIMATE!!

My husband is doing his first 10 miler( on the hobbler course) so I might just run along with him. I'm finding it more rewarding to run with him this year than actually training for any races...I'm trying to not feel guilty about that. We need to meet up sometime. When is Bryce?

From JulieC on Wed, Jul 06, 2011 at 00:39:25 from 70.56.108.94

Bryce is the following Saturday, July 16th. So are you signed up for Hobbler? Yes we should run some time. And I love that you are running with your hubby. I got my husband running really well during the early spring months then he hurts himself skiing and then pulls a hamstring playing soccer and the excuses keep piling up.....I thought we wer on to something (he even ran 15 miles one day, 15 miles!!!) So way to go!!

From JulieC on Wed, Jul 06, 2011 at 11:53:28 from 70.56.108.94

I thought of this on my run this morning April as I was climbing a steep hill..."heat, humidity, hills, and HEL-EVATION!!" I am certain I run better in California where it is humid but sea level.

From Kelli on Fri, Jul 08, 2011 at 14:16:36 from 71.219.69.64

I would have opted for falling in to the cold pool!!!

Pace ONLY 8:05 for 13. ONLY???? You are crazy.
