3:25 pacer.  In no way did I think I was going to fail in this mission so I am very disappointed in myself for the miscalculation.  At mile one my left hip and pelvis was aching. I had really bad stomach cramps wed and thursday along with other maladies til friday. i didnt eat much as a result and i think i came into this job dehydrated. slept from 12-3 am. got to buses for 415 bus so tired but able to chat to keep myself awake. i had steve pace with me and i thought he was going too fast but what was really happening was my garmin was in wrong mode in order to judge pace ...long story but it was my error as i know this course measures 0.2 long. i did not have the pace chart , it was with my buddy and when i thought i could turn it on i could not due to significant headwind just after i stopped for 95 seconds in the porta potty at mile 13. i tried to catch up and the concrete messed more with my left hip that by mile 18 it was seizing up considerably. i tried to be strong and never mentioned my pain til the finish. i cheered the entire way...quieter the last two miles . my pace buddy had to bail at mile 23 and passed the sign to me crud not good as the pain in my legs made me want to stop too . My hip is still burning but hamstring has calmed. it just feels out of position a lot . i had many followers but my potty break was the divider. i have never stopped that long in a marathon before but i just had to stop. I love the uvm course so i am bummed to have not run it exactly as planned. iif u take away the 95 secs to pee etc and the 0.2 over...which is 94 secs (47 per 0.1 miles for 7:49 pace) i had it in the bank. I made this same garmin error in 2011 when i ran 3:09:13 . grrrrr!!! oh well i tried...with only one 15 miler since boston i should be thankful i am not sore right now 10 hours later not a hint of soreness in anyplace besides my left hip pain. I walk up and down stairs normally. no guarding whatsoever.  Splits-- pace on garmin with actual mile splits when I pushed my lap button at every mile marker on the course, a few in the last miles are grouped together when I couldn't see the markers from the crowds and me pouring water on myself:  7:43 (7:48), 7:42 (7:39), 7:34 (7:35), 7:50 (8:01), 7:35 (7:44), 7:37 (7:38),7:45 (7:48), 8:10 (8:12), 8:11 (8:11 wow one right on :D), 7:37 (7:39), 7:47 (7:51), 7:59 (8:05),7:35 (7:39), 8:33 (8:42--95 second potty stop), 7:46 (7:56), 7:57 (7:56-wow a little shorter ), 7:57 (8:02), 7:44 (7:47),7:38 (7:44), 7:48 (7:58), 7:56 ap for two miles, 7:55 ap for 3 miles, 8:05 pace for last 1.24 miles.  I slowed way down when I got to the crowd because I was embarrassed to be charging through and wanted the runners beside me to feel good about themselves and not feel like they had to feel defeated.  I let them catch me.  So irritated with my plan that backfired on me.  NEXT time the stop watch!!  or just know for 7:49 AP on UVM I need to actually run a 7:46 AP per garmin to have me hit it right on.  course 0.19 over well I did have to run off a little from course to porta potty so probably more like 0.18 off.

You overcame some hard predicaments, there's no doubt you're tough!. Sorry it was painful. At least it sounds like you recovered well!

yah i wasnt worried before mile 24 cause ly garmin average pace said 7:50. blah blah then with two slef defeating miles left i slowed too much and made the ap 7:51 by finish but according to uvm my ap came out to be 7:55 due to them using 26.2 i honestly just need more practice and a hip/hamstring that can leg my mind think out the math at mile 22 :-)
